This time of year it's often hard to believe that winter is coming to an end!  A warm sunny day or two, and then the shock of a crisp -5 or so.  But the snow run-off is at its peak, flooding Woodbine Creek here just off Collins Bay Road.

Out for a morning with my sons at Kingston Mills.  The great vertiginous spaces of the lower locks - a place for two boys to make one parent nervous!  In a little while these huge mechanisms will be filled with warm, green water and boats; rows of anglers alongside.  It's amazing to remember these were built by hand, and massive as they are, are still operated by hand:
